Job Summary

The Pulmonology Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a wide range of acute and chronic respiratory and pulmonary conditions. The Specialist provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, interprets diagnostic and pulmonary function studies, develops individualized treatment plans, and collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and diagnose acute and chronic respiratory and pulmonary disorders.
  • Provide comprehensive pulmonary care for both inpatient and outpatient patients.
  • Conduct detailed medical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Interpret pulmonary function tests, chest imaging, laboratory investigations, and other relevant diagnostic studies.
  • Perform bronchoscopy and other pulmonary procedures when appropriately credentialed and authorized.
  • Manage patients with complex respiratory conditions and coordinate appropriate specialist care.
  • Participate in emergency respiratory and critical care management when required.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical response.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice.
  • Follow patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical governance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent).
  • Specialist Degree or Board Certification in Pulmonology / Respiratory Medicine.
  • Current medical license or eligibility for medical licensure.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant specialist experience.
  • Experience managing a broad range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Inpatient and outpatient pulmonary care experience.
  • Experience with bronchoscopy and pulmonary procedures is preferred.

Education

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent).

  • Recognized specialist qualification in Pulmonology / Respiratory Medicine.

Preferred Certification(s)

  • Additional training or certification in Bronchoscopy, Critical Care, or Advanced Respiratory Medicine.
