Job Summary
The Anesthesia Technologist II supports anesthesiologists and the surgical team by preparing, operating, and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role ensures that anesthesia services are delivered safely and efficiently while maintaining equipment readiness, infection prevention standards, and effective operating room support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and check anesthesia machines, monitors, equipment, and related supplies before surgical procedures.
- Ensure all anesthesia equipment is functional, properly calibrated, and readily available.
- Maintain adequate supplies of anesthesia circuits, airway devices, medications, and other required materials as directed.
- Assist anesthesiologists during anesthesia induction, maintenance, and patient recovery.
- Prepare and support airway management equipment and emergency anesthesia supplies.
- Monitor anesthesia equipment during procedures and promptly report technical issues.
- Perform basic troubleshooting, cleaning, maintenance, and equipment checks within scope of practice.
- Assist with the preparation and turnover of operating rooms between procedures.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and infection prevention procedures are followed.
- Support anesthesiologists and clinical teams during emergency procedures and resuscitation when required.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment checks, maintenance, supplies, and related activities.
- Ensure anesthesia work areas remain clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, surgeons, and other operating room personnel.
- Follow patient safety, infection prevention, equipment safety, and hospital policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Anesthesia Technician / Anesthesia Technologist Certificate or Associate Degree in Anesthesia Technology or a related field.
- Current professional registration or license, where applicable.
- Relevant professional certification is preferred.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in anesthesia services.
- Previous experience supporting anesthesia procedures in a hospital or operating room environment.
- Experience with anesthesia equipment, airway devices, and operating room procedures.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia machines, equipment, and monitoring devices.
- Ability to prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment effectively.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
- Strong operating room and surgical team support skills.
- Basic equipment troubleshooting and technical skills.
- Ability to respond effectively during emergency procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and equipment safety awareness.

Education
- Anesthesia Technician / Technologist Certificate or Associate Degree in Anesthesia Technology or a related field.
Required Certification(s)
- Current professional license or registration, where applicable.
Preferred Certification(s)
- Recognized Anesthesia Technician / Technologist certification.
- Additional training in Advanced Life Support, airway management, or operating room safety is an advantage.
