Job Summary
The Radiography Technologist I performs diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. The role is responsible for preparing patients, operating imaging equipment, producing high-quality diagnostic images, maintaining radiation safety standards, and ensuring compliance with established clinical and departmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostic X-ray examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Verify patient identification, examination requests, and relevant clinical information before procedures.
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide appropriate instructions and reassurance.
- Prepare and position patients correctly to obtain accurate and diagnostically useful images.
- Operate radiographic imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and exposure factors based on the examination and patient condition.
- Evaluate images for positioning, exposure, quality, and diagnostic adequacy.
- Repeat examinations when necessary while minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Apply appropriate radiation protection measures for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain radiation safety practices and comply with applicable departmental and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient records, examination documentation, and imaging-related reports.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of radiography equipment and report technical issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection prevention standards within imaging areas and equipment.
- Assist with emergency imaging procedures when required.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and safety throughout the imaging process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology, Radiography, or a related field.
- Current professional license or registration as a Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer.
- Knowledge of diagnostic radiography procedures and radiation protection principles.
Experience Required
- 2–3 years of professional experience in diagnostic radiography.
- Hospital or clinical imaging experience preferred.
- Experience performing routine X-ray examinations and operating digital radiography equipment.
