Job Summary
The Intensivist / Critical Care Specialist provides comprehensive medical management for critically ill patients requiring advanced life support, continuous monitoring, and complex critical care interventions. The Specialist is responsible for assessing and stabilizing critically ill patients, developing individualized treatment plans, performing appropriate ICU procedures, and coordinating multidisciplinary patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, stabilize, and manage critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient condition and clinical findings.
- Provide advanced critical care management for patients with complex and life-threatening conditions.
- Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and other forms of advanced respiratory support.
- Perform ICU procedures within the scope of practice, training, and clinical privileges.
- Monitor hemodynamic, respiratory, neurological, and other critical physiological parameters.
- Lead or participate in emergency resuscitation and advanced life support efforts.
- Respond promptly to clinical deterioration and critical emergencies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in ICU rounds and clinical decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records and clinical documentation.
- Support infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical governance standards.
- Participate in ICU quality improvement, clinical audit, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Provide guidance and clinical support to junior physicians and other ICU staff when required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent).
- Specialist Degree or Board Certification in Intensive Care Medicine / Critical Care Medicine.
- Current medical license or eligibility for medical licensure.
Experience Required
- Minimum 3–5 years of intensive care / critical care experience.
- Strong experience managing critically ill patients in a hospital ICU setting.
- Practical experience with mechanical ventilation, advanced life support, and critical care procedures.

- Strong clinical expertise in Critical Care Medicine.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical ventilation and respiratory support.
- Proficiency in advanced life support and emergency resuscitation.
- Strong clinical assessment, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage complex and rapidly changing clinical situations.
- Strong knowledge of hemodynamic and physiological monitoring.
- Excellent multidisciplinary communication and teamwork.

Education
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent).
- Specialist Degree/Board Certification in Intensive Care Medicine / Critical Care Medicine.
Required Certification(s)
- Current medical license or eligibility for medical licensure.
- Recognized specialist qualification in Intensive Care / Critical Care Medicine.
Preferred Certification(s)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) certification.
- Additional certification or training in Mechanical Ventilation, Critical Care Ultrasound, or Advanced Critical Care Procedures.
