Job Summary
The Emergency Nursing Manager will oversee all nursing operations within the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, timely, and evidence-based emergency care while maintaining regulatory compliance, clinical standards, and operational efficiency.
The role will provide nursing leadership, workforce management, quality oversight, emergency response coordination, and staff development while working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and manage Emergency Department nursing staff.
- Develop staffing schedules and manage workforce planning to ensure appropriate clinical coverage.
- Monitor daily nursing operations and ensure efficient Emergency Department workflow.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical procedures, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Monitor departmental quality indicators, patient safety metrics, and clinical performance.
- Establish and maintain effective emergency response protocols and procedures.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and competency assessments.
- Identify staff development needs and coordinate orientation, training, and continuing education programs.
- Provide leadership and clinical guidance to nursing staff during complex or emergency situations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other departments to coordinate patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
- Manage departmental resources, supplies, and staffing requirements effectively.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and implement corrective actions when required.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practices and a culture of patient safety.
- Address staff concerns and facilitate effective conflict resolution.
- Maintain appropriate nursing documentation and departmental records.
- Support the implementation and review of Emergency Department policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- TNCC certification is preferred.
Experience Required
- Minimum 8 years of professional nursing experience.
- At least 3 years of Emergency Nursing leadership or management experience.
- Strong experience managing nursing operations within a busy Emergency Department.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, workforce planning, and clinical quality management.
