Charge Nurse – Cath Lab

Job Summary
The Charge Nurse will be responsible for supervising daily nursing operations within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory while providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
The role will ensure patient safety, compliance with clinical and hospital standards, effective staff coordination, and efficient workflow within the Cath Lab. The Charge Nurse will work closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary cardiac care team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during Cath Lab procedures.
- Coordinate patient preparation, intra-procedure nursing care, and post-procedure recovery.
- Monitor patients’ cardiac status and respond promptly to clinical emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical standards.
- Manage staff assignments, daily workflow, and Cath Lab nursing activities.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring and documentation of patient care.
- Coordinate with physicians, technicians, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Ensure Cath Lab equipment, supplies, and clinical areas are appropriately prepared for procedures.
- Support safe patient transfers and post-procedure monitoring.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Assist with orientation, training, mentoring, and competency development of nursing staff.
- Promote adherence to established nursing policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience.
- Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) experience is required.
- Previous Charge Nurse or nursing leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
