Abstract
Clinically, the inflammation induced by cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with a higher incidence of severe complications and mortality. Based on the absorptive property of hemoperfusion, it has been gradually applicable in more cardiovascular surgeries, as a connecting mode within CPB circuit with the aim to alleviate inflammation and improve outcomes. In this review, both mechanisms of inflammation by CPB and emerging HA380 cartridge against inflammation are reviewed in order to strengthen and optimize the application of HA380 cartridge during cardiovascular surgery.
