This case reports on a 83-year-old man, with a history of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and myocardial infarction, who was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after redo laparotomic surgery following complications from a primary low anterior resection due to a rectal carcinoma, leading to gas and fecal leakage at the resection site, 2 days postoperatively.
