Abstract
The goals of mitral valve (MV) and tricuspid valve (TV) repair are to restore leaflet motion, to increase leaflet coaptation and to stabilize the annulus with preservation of an adequate valve orifice. Ring annuloplasty is mainly used to stabilize the annulus and to prevent subsequent annular dilatation as well as to restore annular geometry in the dilated annulus. In combination with several different repair techniques, ring annuloplasty allows a successful valve repair in most patients with degenerative disease. Mitral and tricuspid annuloplasty ring dehiscence is a rare postoperative procedure-related failure of MV or TV repair….
