SpO\u2082 remained &gt;96% and HR &lt;100 bpm throughout.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lung aeration:<\/strong> Both groups showed reduced aeration during exercise, but <strong>loss was smaller and recovery greater with SV<\/strong> in situ.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tidal variation:<\/strong> Increases were significantly larger with SVs, suggesting better ventilation distribution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Patient preference:<\/strong> 83% preferred exercising with SVs, citing improved ability to <strong>communicate needs and ask questions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Performance:<\/strong> Exercise tolerance was similar with or without SV, indicating <strong>no physiologic downside<\/strong> to SV use.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p id=\"ember68\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Why This Matters:<\/strong> Patients with tracheostomies often have SVs removed during exercise due to safety concerns.
