Survey Development and Distribution
This survey (SurveyMonkey, San Mateo, CA) consisted of 26 questions and was developed by the authors who manage patients supported by tMCS including intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), veno-arterial and veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), axillary Impella (Danvers, MA), Centrimag and right ventricular assist devices like Protek Duo. The requirement for consent was waived by the institutional review boards of the respective investigators. The complete survey questionnaire is provided as Supplemental Digital Content, https://links.lww.com/ASAIO/B398. The survey link was disseminated through the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) website and Twitter (now X). The survey remained accessible for a duration of 3 months. To avoid duplication of responses, each survey response was associated with the name of the respective institution. Centers were categorized based on their implantation volume of a specific tMCS device. High-volume centers implanting greater than 50 devices annually, whereas low-volume centers implanting less than 20 devices annually.
Statistical Analysis
Categorical variables were represented as frequencies and percentages of the specific group. Fisher exact test was employed for comparing groups of responders. Stata version was used for analysis. p Value of less than 0.05 was considered significant.
